In Asia, DHIS2 promotional features lead to stronger data interpretation
This past month, the Women’s Health Project, Monitoring and Evaluation, and GBS teams partnered with PSI/Laos to launch new ways to interact with dashboards on DHIS2. Dashboards, a place where you can collect your favorite charts, maps, and pivot tables in an organized and easy to visualize manner, are used widely for their ease in accessing reports.
The dashboard features now include a new traffic light dashboard, thanks to efforts by the M&E team, in addition to GBS input. Now data to action framework is imbedded in each dashboard which takes key performance indicators, including efficiency and effectiveness, to create a visual output that enables analysts to glean more insight into the current state of Health Educators. This in turn advises the WHP team on next steps for its strategy in the program area

Get on board with the challenge
In July PSI/Laos took on the challenge to strengthen their data use skills by launching the DHIS2 Dashboard Challenge. The initiative has been a big hit and 97% of program staff have already learned more about the interpretations features and document corrective actions. These skills are vital for the staff as the use of DHIS2’s interpretations features helps them communicate local needs better to WHP and senior managers, and have data-driven conversations.
This year’s winner of the dashboard challenge was Ms. Ammaline Vongsitthi, Women’s Health Program Coordinator. She inspires her colleagues as a top data user in DHIS2 use analytics, and shows how important it is to use the interpretation feature of the DHIS2 dashboard everyday.
